The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles is an expansion for the best selling fantasy RPG Oblivion. It opens up a new daedric realm for the player to explore about 7 game days after installation. The new realm is home to the Daedric Prince of Madness called Sheogorath. Apparently there is a threat to his realm and he needs a mortal champion to save it. The player then begins a lengthy series of quests to find out what the threat is, and ultimatley stop it. The Shivering Isles are split into 2 sides, Maia and Dementia. In Mania reside the poets, artists and free thinkers and it is generaly a happy and colorful place. Dementia is home for the paranoid and delusional, it is dark, sinister and, at times, genuinly terrifying.
New Features
The Shivering Isles are host to a plethera of new creatures, equipment, armor, weapons and characters. Each new character has a mental disorder to some degree ranging from hypochondria to an effeminine orc. 2 new types of weapons and armor exist in the isles and can be made by a pair of smiths in the capitol city. The new armor, called madness and amber, each represent a side of the isles. Madness armor is dark and has faces screaming on every piece of armor, and amber is light orange with a very strange helmet.
