Near Death Investigation will be the fifth installment in the survival horror series Alone in the Dark. The game, at this point, appears either to be a sequel to 2001’s The New Nightmare or a reimagining of sorts. Of course, there’s always the chance that this installment will involve time travel, and actually make the appearance of protagonist Edward Carnby plausible in modern times.

Statements released to the press about Near Death Investigation lead us to believe the game will be semi-open-ended and incorporate a physics engine. Beyond that, very little is known.

Alone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation is currently planned for an Xbox 360, PC, and PS2 release. However, it is expected that this will also become a PS3 release at some point in the future.
