The year is 2142. Global wamring has causedmuch of the northern hemisphere to beocme enveloped in snow and ice, with deserts becoming red hot, barren and empty. Two surviving factions fight across ~Europe and North Africa for what resources remain in this ruined world. Fighting from the ice covered Berlin to the almost dry Suez Canal, the EU and PAC forces fight for their ultimate rule and control over the remaining world.

In Battlefield 2142, you play as a soldier in skirmish games up to 64 players on multiplayer games. You will use a wide variety of weapons, from the high-powered Zeller Sniper Rifle to the lowly but silent and effective Combat Knife.

There are 4 kits to play:
-Assault: Armed with an assault rifle, they are good for almost any job. They can clear out large areas with their gun attachments, such as the rifle rockets or shotgun, as well as pciking off enemy from a range. They are also equip with medic packs to heal teammates, but when elft unattended, it can heal enemies.
-Support: Armed with a heavy machine gun, they lack stealth due to their heavy equipment, but are very effective at clearing enemies out of anrrow spaces, as well as providing supprssive fire. These men are the backbone of an army, supplying much infantry equipment, such as ammo. They are also able to unlock amny toher useful items, such as the EMP grenade, able to immobilise enemies, or the Sentry Gun, which when deployed shoots at any enemies it sees.
-Recon: These people are usually armed with a sniper rifle and light armour. They sneak behind enemy lines, assassinating people and taking bases before the enemy realise what's happening. They can also unlock the Lambert Carbine, a machine gun with an incredibly high rate of fire, perfect for quickly eliminating enemies.
-Engineer: These people rule amchinery on the battlefield. They can repair vehicles, turrets, as well as being armed with a rocket launcher, giving them the ability to take down vehicles as well. Their ability to repair vehicles makes them a neccesity in an team.

Battlefield 2142 uses a new unlock system, where everytime to get a rank up, you get an "unlcok point", which can be spent on the unlock ladder. As you work your way up, you are able to buy *better* unlocks. Spend wisely though, as once you;ve spent a point, you can't get the point back.
