BioShock Summary

Bioshock (the spiritual successor to seminal PC classic System Shock) is an FPS that places players in the dilapidated underwater city of Rapture, whose citizens have become something other than human.  Rapture, designed to be a Utopian community where humanity was encouraged to grow without constraints, has instead become a savage place where only the fittest survive through extensive genetic manipulation.  In order to escape the city the player must risk his own humanity by taking on these enhancements for himself, as well as decide whether to help the citizens of Rapture regain their humanity or exploit their tragedy for his own survival.

Bioshock will rely heavily upon character customization as well as standard twitch FPS skills.  Each problem encountered in the game will have a variety of solutions, and each individual approach to the game is likely to yield a unique play experience.  The game also boasts a distinctive atmosphere that is bolstered by its decaying art-deco architecture, period-era music, and claustrophobic waterlogged environments.

Bioshock is the winner of several Best of E3 awards and a Limited Edition box is currently available for preorder through Gamestop, featuring a Bioshock Big Daddy figurine, a soundtrack CD, and a Behind the Scenes DVD. Bioshock is due out in August of this year for XBox 360 and PC.
