Infinity: The Quest for Earth an upcoming sci-fi MMO space-simulator from the standalone developer Flavien Brebion.
With using procedural techniques, the game's  universe can contain billions of coherent scaled planets, with coherent scales of space. One of the oldest games in the gaming history, Elite also used procedural techniques, and this gave the inspiration to Flavien.

The story takes place in the far future of mankind, when humanity colonized thousands of planets, and meanwhile, actually forgot where did it all start, they forgot Earth. A misterious disease infected all the women, stopping them from being pregnant, so mankind will soon extinct unless sommeone soon finds earth and bring the cure, the remaining uninfected human DNA.

Infinity is not a traditional RPG, however there are roleplaying elements, there are no skills or classes,  but the einvorment is phisically realistic, so driving a spaceship in space is not so easy at all, soon, your own, personal, real ship-driving skills can affect your speed, and your aiming accuracy for example.

The game is not only combat based, however space combat is an important feature, players can be explorers, traders, pirates, colonizers, etc.

The developement is very opened, you can try the combat prototype for example, to experiment spaceship-driving.
