Need for Speed Carbon Summary

Need for Speed:Carbon is the most recent in the Need for Speed series, also being the first of the series to be released on next-gen consoles. It features real-life cars with realistic graphics and a lot of intense racing action.

The game is based on street racer gangs battling out to be "King of the streets". You can customize your racing crew with a variety of specialised racers, such as Scouts, who find shortcuts, Blockers, who try to detour the opposition, and Drafters, who show you the best path for a significant speed-boost. There are alos "sub-specialities", such as Fixers, who help your overall satts at the end of the race, Fabricators, who enable you to edit your car and Mechanics that give discounts after winning races. The map is split into "territories" which the player can take or lose to rival gangs.

Also brought into play from the pervious "underground" sub-series, drift-racing has been enabled, as well as the new Canyon racing. Unfortunately, drag racing has been taken out, which was one of the major parts of soe of the earlier series.

The game tarts off following from the previous in the series, where you win back your BMW. You finish the race, but the cops are at the finish line with what has been called an "EMP type device" that disable all cars except yours. As your close friend comes to give you the prize-monkey, the cops pull her back, and you escape down a back alley, only to find the bag is a decoy. I'm not going to reveal anymore...

Need For Speed is a great series that should be played by any true racing game fan.
