Need for Speed Most Wanted Summary
After the critically acclaimed Need for Speed Underground and its subsequent sequel, the Need for Speed series had successfully made the transition from traditional Point A to Point B linear races to a fully realistic, free-form environment much akin to games such as Grand Theft Auto. In Most Wanted, the formula is taken one step further with the addition of a full police system.
Gameplay
The game plays much like the second Underground in that the city is very large and originally closed off in certain areas, much like the Grand Theft Auto series. The player speeds around the city and countryside looking for potential races or using the map to spot garages and other goodies.
Issues
The storyline is a little bit weak, which is honestly no surprise given the genre in which the game resides. The car upgrades are of course better than the previous game, as you would expect, but they still leave something to be desired, as a vast majority of the components are no different.
Overall
Truth be told, the game is extremely entertaining while it lasts, and the courses are varied and fresh. The addition of the police adds a new twist that can completely change how you play. Grab it used or on sale and pass it on after you're done.
