Elder Scrolls Oblivion Summary

Nutshell
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is a fantasy role-playing game set in Cyrodiil.  The plot revolves around a prisoner who is fated to save the world by stopping the impending armies of the main enemy, Mehrunes Dagon.  Dagon is a Daedric Prince of destruction who sends his armies of monsters ot try to conquer Cyrodiil.  The player can choose between many races and then customize their characters appearance, skills, class and so forth.  Although the main quest is always present the player is never forced to take part in it beyond the tutorial.  The player can do a multitude of quest lines or simply wander and loot dungeons.  Oblivion has been praised for making a "living world" where NPC's seem realistic and even have conversations with one another.

Loot
One of the largest complaints with Oblivion is it's loot system.  The loot is mostly random and levels with the player.  This was done to allow the player to go any where at any level, but it prevents the player from ever reaching a level so high nothing poses a challenge.  It keeps the player limited to certain types of armor until they reach a high enough level, at which point the world is populated with the armor.  This can ruin immersion since every bandit can have very expensive and enchanted armor and weapons at a certain level.
