World In Conflict Summary
Summary:
World in Conflict is a real-time strategy game, with a heavy focus on tactics, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment. Set in 1989, World in Conflict features a fictional version of the Soviet Union during a time of economic troubles. Things get so bad for the Soviet Union, in fact, that they must risk nuclear Armageddon to stay in power.
Unconventional RTS:
Massive Entertainment revealed in a recent interview that there will be no base-building or resource gathering in World in Conflict. Instead, players will be begin with a pre-determined amount of in-game credit to purchase units with. When a unit is destroyed, the points used towards that unit's purchase will be slowly filtered back to the player: thus allowing reinforcements. In this way, World in Conflict is a very unconventional RTS game.
Gameplay Elements:
World in Conflict features a system where the player may choose one of four roles in battle: air, armor, infantry, and support. The choice the player makes effects which specialized units become available to him.
Another fresh concept in World of Conflict is the use of "tactical aids". Similar in functionality to the Generals powers in the game Command & Conquer: Generals, as tactical aids are accumulated players are able to deploy paratroopers, call inair-strikes, or even drop a nuclear bomb.
Controls:
World in Conflict also features unique camera controls. The player will use the WASD keys to move the camera around the map. Clicking and holding the mouse wheel is used to look around from a fixed position and players can move the camera all the way down to the ground units.
Factions:
The three factions to choose from are the USA, the Soviet Union, and NATO. Currently, the only faction with an announced campaign is the USA.
