This Month in Gaming History
August 17, 2007, by xKarma What a great month for gaming!
Across the gaming spectrum this month marks the release of some very
significant games of all shapes, sizes, and tastes. If ever there was
a month to not complain about, this is the month.
For starters,
Madden Football drops on every modern system there is and from the
initial critical impressions this year's Madden will not disappoint.
It is noteworthy that Madden on the Wii includes a family-friendly mode
that makes it simple for just about anybody to jump in and play. It is
also noteworthy that recent reviews indicate that the XBox 360 version
is king this year and outdoes the PS3equivalent.
The Harvest Moon series sees a new entry this month as well on the
Nintendo DS. Known as Rune Factory, this Harvest Moon is a noticeable
departure from the series. Rather than working a conventional farm
like all the previous games in this cult series had the player doing,
you now work with monsters and crawl dungeons. But fans of the series
need not worry too much for the basics are all in place.
Perhaps the most important release this month is that of
BioShock. XBox360 and PC gamers should be prepared for a brilliant
game in BioShock. Initial reviews from even some of the toughest
critics leave one with the impression that this is an instant classic.
For those who have yet to hear of BioShock: shame on you.
In addition to these releases we also have the epic fantasy
role-playing game Two Worlds coming out on the XBox 360 which supports
8-player on-line play; Metroid Prime 3: Corruption finally arrives on
the Wii and should be nothing short of spectacular; Dungeons and
Dragons fans are treated to Dungeons and Dragons Tactics for the PSP.
No matter what type of game you like to play there are plenty of notable releases this month. It's a good time to be a gamer.
